According to North Carolina Statute, any person having understanding and capacity to make and communicate health care
decisions, who is 18 years of age or older may execute a document known as a Living Will and directing that life-sustaining procedures be withheld or withdrawn.
It also defines other health care treatment decisions that can be made on your behalf.

You have the right to make decisions about your health care. No person shall be required to sign a living will declaration as a
condition for becoming insured under any insurance contract or for receiving any medical treatment.
